HOW BIG IS THE THANET WINE APPRECIATION SOCIETY (TWAS)?
The Society has just under 150 members. A typical full meeting will normally attract an attendance of 90 – 100 members.
IS TWAS SPONSORED OR IN RECEIPT OF COMMERCIAL FUNDING?
No, TWAS is maintained only by its members’ subscriptions and has no other source of funding. Members attending functions and activities pay a fee for their attendance (generally £35– 40.00 per head).
HOW MUCH IS THE SUBSCRIPTION?
The subscription is presently £9.00 per year, although this has been suspended during Covid.
DOES TWAS GIVE SPECIAL OFFERS ON WINE?
A number of the presenters are in the wine business and can sell their wines to individual members, frequently at a promotional discount, but TWAS is not directly involved in such transactions.
CAN I BECOME A MEMBER OF TWAS AND HOW DO I GO ABOUT IT?
We recommend that you attend at least two meetings as guest of a member, to meet the others and experience a typical meeting. If you do not know any member, the Society will be pleased to arrange for you to be hosted by one. In the first instance, you should write by email to the Committee under the heading “Membership Enquiry”.
IS THERE A SEATING PLAN?
Yes there is, so that members have the opportunity to meet everyone throughout the year
DO YOU CATER FOR SPECIAL DIETARY REQUESTS?
Yes: members who have dietary requirements can list these on the booking form.
